Bukit Segenting, Penang – 10 October 2025
In a strategic move to enhance audio transmission quality and reliability, IKIM FM has successfully deployed a new Studio-to-Transmitter Link (STL) system across four critical broadcast sites. The initiative, led by Medialab Alliance Sdn. Bhd. in collaboration with Celcom Digi, marks a significant milestone in modernizing Malaysia’s radio infrastructure.
The program involved the delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of a high-performance audio codec system designed to ensure seamless audio delivery from studio to transmitter. The deployment covered:
1. IKIM FM Main Studio, Jalan Duta
2. IKIM FM Backup Studio, ISEF Bangi
3. Bukit Panau Transmission Site, Kelantan
4. Bukit Segenting Transmission Site, Penang
At the heart of the solution are 8 units of Prodys Quantum2 ST Audio Codec, renowned for their robust IP audio transport capabilities, and the Prodys Control Plus NMS Software, enabling centralized monitoring and control from IKIM FM’s Network Operations Center (NOC).
This STL upgrade was made possible through the support of Celcom Digi, the project’s telco service provider. Their network infrastructure and technical collaboration ensured reliable connectivity across all sites, enabling real-time audio transmission with minimal latency and maximum uptime.
The new system not only improves audio fidelity and operational control but also positions IKIM FM for future scalability, including remote management, redundancy switching, and integration with IP-based workflows.
IKIM FM, Medialab Alliance, and Celcom Digi extend their appreciation to all technical teams, site engineers, and stakeholders for their dedication and cooperation throughout the rollout.
